Poles all remember <\/span><\/span><\/b>the great agricultural protests against the Green Deal in Warsaw<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/a>. The brutal actions of the police and the ruthless attitude of the government shocked many Poles at the time. A few days ago, the Ordo Iuris Institute successfully concluded the case of another one of the farmers who was a victim of police brutality. Without warning, an officer of the State Protection Service (S\u0142u\u017cba Ochrony Pa\u0144stwa) attacked him from behind in front of the Prime Minister\u2019s office. Still, he was the one accused of assaulting an officer. After our intervention, the prosecutor\u2019s office dismissed the case, indicating that the farmer\u2019s actions did not meet the criteria for a crime.<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Desperate farmers who took to the streets to defend themselves and the entire country against a harmful ideology were detained, subjected to interrogations, and hidden from advocates… Ordo Iuris attorneys stood on the side of the persecuted. First, we stopped attempts to subject the detainees to expedited trials, which common hooligans would undergo. This gave us time to conduct an effective defense. Although the public is slowly forgetting these events, we remember them. And we are slowly achieving success. By the end of June, the prosecutor\u2019s office discontinued the proceedings against 22-year-old Fabian from the Greater Poland (Wielkopolska<\/i>) voivodeship, who was charged with … \u201ctaking an active part in a disturbance, in that he moved along with the crowd.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Two weeks ago, we successfully concluded the case of another one of the farmers who was a victim of police brutality. Without warning, an officer of the State Protection Service (S\u0142u\u017cba Ochrony Pa\u0144stwa – SOP<\/i>) attacked him from behind in front of the Prime Minister\u2019s office. The man reacted reflexively by bending down, causing the officer to lose his balance and fall. The farmer, who was subsequently overpowered and subjected to pepper spray, was charged with \u201cviolation of bodily integrity of a SOP officer.\u201d In addition, the prosecutor accused him of \u201cpolluting the environment to a significant extent\u201d because he had arrived at the protest in a vehicle with a manure tank.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

After our intervention, the prosecutor\u2019s office discontinued the proceedings, indicating that neither act met the criteria for a crime. Regardless, our lawyers filed a complaint against the farmer’s detention, questioning the circumstances and the manner of his confinement. In a decision dated September 3, the Regional Court for Warsaw-\u015ar\u00f3dmie\u015bcie agreed with us!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

65-year-old ailing farmer brutalized by police<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n

Last week, the first hearing was to be held in the most high-profile of these cases, involving a 65-year-old ailing farmer from the Lower Silesia (Dolny \u015al\u0105sk<\/i>) voivodeship who was brutally detained by police on charges of violating an officer\u2019s bodily integrity. All this for allegedly throwing … an egg at the policeman\u2019s leg. As a result of the incident, the man, who suffers from serious cardiac ailments, was taken from the police station late in the evening for examination. Eventually \u2013 thanks to the intervention of our attorneys \u2013 Andrzej was released pending trial and discharged from the police detention center.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n

Andrzej\u2019s hearing has been postponed, which again condemns him to a nervous wait for justice. However, I am confident that we will also defend him against the charge brought for participating in a legal demonstration in which he stood up for Polish interests.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
