In recent days, one of the activists from Poland’s Abortion Dream Team and Aborcja bez Granic (Abortion Without Borders) boasted on social media that activists from Aborcja bez Granic helped a couple kill their unborn child.

2

Although we Poles have grown accustomed to similar actions by abortion activists—which, for reasons that are hard to understand, elicit no response from law enforcement—some manifestations of their scandalous activity particularly shock the public. This was the case with an activist’s statement regarding assistance provided by an abortion organization for a so-called selective-reduction abortion on demand, in which one of two unborn twins was allegedly eliminated.

The Ordo Iuris Institute is preparing a notification to the prosecutor’s office regarding the possible commission of a crime by the pro-abortion female activists who may have played a role in this crime.

Selective-reduction abortion—what is it?

Simply put, this term refers to the killing, by abortion, of one or more selected children in a multiple pregnancy. In the case in question, two children were conceived instead of—as the activist said in her video—the one that had been planned. Rarely do couples plan to have two or more children at once, and the fact that such situations occur is simply a matter of biology. But this time biology was not to have the last word. The twins’ parents planned to have one child and that’s it; nature must yield, and Abortion Without Borders steps in with its deadly “help”… They arrange for the couple to access selective-reduction abortion, that is, the killing of one of the children, so that the parents’ life plans could be fulfilled at any cost. Even at the cost of their own child’s life.

“A gap in the healthcare system”

Known mainly for the criminal proceedings pending against her for the crime of aiding in an abortion (Article 152 § 2 of the Polish Penal Code), the author of the recording about this selective-reduction abortion said, among other things, that through their activities abortion activists “fill a gap in the healthcare system.” It’s like saying that a thief who steals someone else’s car is filling a gap in society’s private property structure, because his plans include owning such a vehicle—something the state system does not guarantee him. This absurd example is intended to illustrate the scale of the lie and, at the same time, the illegality on which organizations such as Poland’s Abortion Dream Team and Aborcja bez Granic are based. This state of affairs, unfortunately, persists thanks to the tacit approval of law enforcement authorities, which, for many years now—aside from a very few exceptions—have displayed complete inaction in the face of the crimes of aiding and abetting abortion committed by female abortion activists. The operations of ADT or AbG are not about filling some “gap” in the organization of the healthcare system, nor about occupying some legally unregulated area that practice fills, thereby making the system more complete. What female abortion activists do is a crime explicitly set forth in Poland’s Criminal Code, acts for which Polish law provides a penalty of up to three years’ imprisonment. It is simply morally reprehensible conduct, deemed by the legislature of a civilized country to be worthy of punishment and deserving of such punishment.

Things could get worse…

The lack of an adequate response from law enforcement agencies to the acts committed by activists from ADT, AbG, or other similar organizations leads to their radicalization, as evidenced by the case at hand. The perpetrators of the crime publicly and openly boast that they committed it, that they helped kill a human being, because that was what someone wanted. So is it true that abortion on request is not available in Poland? Indeed, it is prohibited by law (in particular, Article 152 § 1 of the Criminal Code), and the procedure is, as a rule, not performed within the territory of our country. However, ignoring the regulations and allowing blatantly unlawful activity that undermines the existing legal order in practice leads to a situation in which abortions on demand are already being performed in Poland as well. I am referring here to cases of the already widespread practice of performing abortions on the so-called mental health grounds, as a result of which unborn children are killed on the basis of certificates from psychiatrists attesting, for example, to adjustment disorders in women. We Poles are thus heading toward a point of no return—the accustoming of society to the idea that killing the unborn is something “normal” and merely a “medical procedure” will sooner or later lead to social acceptance of this practice and, subsequently, its inevitable legalization. That is also the goal of abortion organizations; this is why they keep pushing the boundaries further and further, and why they boast about their latest “achievements” in killing the smallest and most defenseless.

… but it doesn’t have to be that way

It’s still not too late to turn back from this disastrous path. However, this requires not only social resistance (which still persists, as evidenced by the exceptionally numerous expressions of outrage at the news of selective-reduction abortion enabled by AbG), but also a lawful and appropriate response from state authorities. First and foremost, the crimes of aiding and abetting abortion must no longer be ignored by prosecutors, as is currently the case. Furthermore, to restore compliance with the Constitution and the laws, the unlawful regulation issued by former Minister of Health Izabela Leszczyna should be repealed, under which hospitals are penalized for medically justified refusals to perform abortions. It is also necessary to withdraw the equally unlawful guidelines on abortion, issued by the same minister. An important point here is that implementing these changes is not some pipe dream—we have solid legal grounds for it; all that’s still needed is the decision-makers’ goodwill. So far, the Ordo Iuris Institute has responded to the actions of abortion activists. Our lawyers are preparing, in this matter, a report to the prosecutor’s office regarding the possible commission of a crime under Article 152 § 2 of the Polish Criminal Code, namely aiding in an abortion.
